Project Evergreen 3

Following the successful introduction of services east of Cambridge, the focus of current efforts is the section between Bedford and Oxford.

Currently passenger services operate between Bedford and Bletchley (known as the "Marston Vale" line) provided by Silverlink County and between Bicester and Oxford, operated by First Great Western. Household waste trains operate from Calvert, near Claydon, west to Bristol, and south to London. There are also freight trains to MOD Bicester and an aggregates site north of Oxford. The section of route between Bletchley and Claydon is currently out of use after being mothballed in the mid-1990's but the trackbed remains intact. The reopening of this section of railway is unlikely to require powers under the Transport and Works Act.
